Service changes

Pearson Street, Charlestown Square diversion

 

From Sunday 17 to Thursday 21 January, between 8pm and 5am daily, some Pearson Street bus stops will be temporarily closed due to construction work on Ridley Street.

Routes 11, 14, 22, 25, 28 and some Hunter Valley Bus services will be affected by the closures. Diversions and temporary bus stops will be in place to ensure customers can still easily catch public transport services during temporary closure times.

Route 11 ending at Charlestown Square Services will divert from Charlestown Road onto the Pacific Highway, left onto Ridley Street, right onto Smith Street, right onto Smart Street and then left onto normal route via Pearson Street to complete route at Frederick Street. Temporary bus stops will be located on Smith Street between Ridley and Smart streets, and on Smart Street between the Pacific Highway and Pearson Street.
Route 11 towards Newcastle via Jesmond Services will begin at usual Frederick Street bus stop and turn left at the Pacific Highway and then left onto Charlestown Road to continue along normal route to Newcastle via Jesmond. There will be a temporary bus stop located on the Pacific Highway between Frederick and Smart streets (Pacific Highway before Smart St bus stop). Bus stops on Frederick Street and Charlestown Road will operate as normal.
Route 14 towards Swansea Services will veer left onto Smith Street from the Pacific Highway and then turn right onto Smart Street. Services will then turn left onto Pearson St and continue as normal. Temporary bus stops will be located on Smith Street, between Ida and Ridley streets, and between Ridley and Smart streets. There will also be a temporary bus stop on Smart Street between the Pacific Highway and Pearson Street.
Route 14 towards Newcastle Services will turn left onto the Pacific Highway from Frederick Street. Services will continue as normal along the Pacific Highway. Temporary bus stops will be open along the Pacific Highway for customers.
Route 22 ending at Charlestown Square Service will continue straight along Smart Street, instead of turning right onto Smith Street. From Smart Street stop, services will turn left onto Pearson Street and complete route at Frederick Street as usual. Temporary bus stop will be on Smart Street between the Pacific Highway and Pearson Street.

Route 22 towards Newcastle West

Services will continue along Frederick Street, crossing the Pacific Highway and turn left onto Smith Street. Services will then turn right onto Smart Street and continue as normal. Use regular bus stops at Frederick Street and Smith Street at St Mary Immaculate Church to catch service.
Route 25 ending at Charlestown Square Services will continue along Frederick Street, crossing the Pacific Highway and turn left onto Smith Street. Services will then turn right onto Smart Street and complete service at temporary bus stop located after turn onto Smith Street. Services will end at temporary bus stop located at Smart Street after Smith Street.
Route 25 towards Broadmeadow Services will begin at temporary bus stop located at Smart Street after Smith Street and travel along Smart Street, turning right at roundabout onto Milson Street. Services will then turn left onto Frederick Street and continue along normal route. Temporary bus stops will be located at Smart Street after Smith Street and Smith Street at St Mary Immaculate Church.
Route 28 towards Mount Hutton Services will veer left onto Smith Street from the Pacific Highway and then turn right onto Smart Street. Services will then turn left onto Pearson St and continue as normal. Temporary bus stops will be located on Smith Street, between Ida and Ridley streets, and between Ridley and Smart streets. There will also be a temporary bus stop on Smart Street between the Pacific Highway and Pearson Street.

Route 28 towards Newcastle West

Services will turn left onto the Pacific Highway from Frederick Street. Services will continue as normal along the Pacific Highway Temporary bus stops will be open along the Pacific Highway for customers.

Hunter Valley Bus services

Affected Hunter Valley Bus services will operate along the Pacific Highway instead of Pearson Street, and then continue along their normal routes. Use existing bus stops on Frederick Street.
